Environmental, Social, and Governance

Providing IT services in London is a people business as much as a technical one, and we think how we operate matters just as much as what we deliver. This page describes how we approach Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) responsibility as an employer, as a service provider, and as a business our clients and partners can rely on.

ESG is a company-wide commitment. Everyone has a part to play in how we operate, the decisions we make, and the impact we have on our clients, our community and the environment.

Environmental

One of the biggest contributors to environmental footprint is travel. We minimise our travel footprint by staff working from home where possible and appropriate, which also brings the benefit of less time spent travelling for our colleagues. When we do have to travel, the preferred option is to use public transport, and if possible, travel outside of peak times. Because of our location, lots of our journeys to clients' offices are on foot, or a combination of London Underground and walking.

Our office is sized around the number of colleagues who regularly work from the City, with shared space available from our office provider when we need additional capacity. The office is modern, with lighting that switches off when not in use and minimal power consumption when the office is unoccupied.

On waste and recycling, we repurpose or recycle ALL tech equipment which is no longer required by us or by clients. Equipment is data-sanitised then passed to accredited WEEE recyclers. We encourage clients to get the maximum use and lifespan from their hardware where it is still serviceable and fulfilling a business function.

We are paper-free. We have a printer in the London office, but nobody can remember the last time we used it!

Social

Maple strives to be a good employer, treating colleagues with fairness and respect, and bringing real career development to every member of the team. We support modern apprenticeships and engage a qualified HR consultancy.

Our overriding work principle is to operate with professionalism, integrity and openness with our clients. This can be achieved without sacrificing the personal. Many of our clients tell us we feel less like a supplier and more like part of their own team. That's deliberate, and it's how we want it to stay.

With everyone else we work with — suppliers, partners and the wider businesses we buy from and sell to — we aim to have a positive impact and to deal with people fairly and with respect.

Governance

Maple is certified to ISO 27001 and holds Cyber Essentials Plus certification. Both are audited annually.

A sustainable business. We operate within our means, keep adequate reserves, and aim for steady, sustainable growth rather than short-term wins so that we're a stable, dependable partner for the long term.

A business that plans. IT support can be reactive by nature, but most of what we do is underpinned by considered processes and documented plans. We maintain internal governance standards designed to meet what our clients, many of them in regulated sectors, expect of their suppliers, and we run a formal risk management process.

We take the security and confidentiality of client information seriously. Our policies cover information security, data protection, access control, incident response and business continuity, supported by regular reviews, staff training and independent certification.

The right tools, properly vetted. We work with a carefully chosen set of vendors and systems, each assessed before we bring it into our service delivery.
